Privacy

What this platform is

SkillMap is a formative skills self-assessment for the first week of a study programme. It is never graded and never connected to grading — that is a design rule of the platform, not just a promise.

What we store

Your email address (for sign-in) and your assessment answers. No names, no demographic data. Lecturers of your institute see your individual results to plan support — this is stated before you start.

Research use

Research use of pseudonymized answers happens only with your separate, voluntary opt-in at submission. Declining has zero consequences. Research exports never contain your email or reflection texts.

Retention

Individual data is deleted or anonymized 12 months after submission (automated monthly job). Anonymized cohort aggregates are kept. You can request earlier deletion at any time via the contact below.

• Vercel — hosting & serverless compute (EU region, fra1)
• Neon — Postgres database (EU region)
• Resend — transactional email — sign-in codes only (EU sending)
• Sentry — error monitoring (EU data region; only active when configured)
• Plausible — privacy-friendly, cookieless usage analytics (EU-hosted; only active when configured)

All services are configured for EU regions.
